Keto Slow Cooker Chicken Wings with Creamy Jalapeno Sauce

Overview:

This recipe includes cooking chicken wings in your slow cooker. From there, you’ll just need to blend and simmer a spicy sauce for about 10-15 minutes. After that, you can apply the sauce to the cooked chicken and broil it for a few minutes. That is all it takes to create this amazingly flavorful chicken!

As I stated in a past post, I don’t put sauces in with my slow cooker meats, as they tend to thin too much and end up destroying the quality. Thus, a quick broil really does the trick!

Spice Preference:

Note that with this recipe, there is a bit of a kick. You can certainly adjust how spicy everything is, depending on your tolerance. I never used to be able to handle any spicy foods at all. Seriously, not even a tiny bit. With eating more and more jalapeno, this definitely still had a kick, but was not overwhelming. I might finally have some tolerance. If you’re brave enough, feel free to remove the majority of the cream cheese from the sauce and you’ll definitely feel the heat!

Sides:

We had a side salad with this meal, but I won’t be including it below, as it’s pretty basic. I simply cut a head of romaine lettuce, included hard boiled eggs, some shredded cheese, and topped it with vinaigrette dressing. I actually took a look at our salad dressing today. The ingredients aren’t great. Some are obviously better than others. It definitely inspired me though to start thinking about salad dressings I’ll want to put together soon! What is your favorite salad dressing, that you wish had fewer harsh ingredients and more of a wholesome approach?

Ingredients

Chicken:

  • 2.5 lbs Chicken Wings *6 total chicken wings
  • 1 tsp Pink Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tsp Thyme

Jalapeno Sauce:

  • 1/2 large Fresh Jalapeno (seeds included)
  • 3 oz Original Cream Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 1 tbsp Dave's Buffalo Chicken Wing Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Heinz Reduced Sugar Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar (Sukrin Gold)
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Pink Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Minced Garlic
  • 1/4 tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1/4 tbsp Jalapeno Hot Sauce

Instructions

  • Season both sides of chicken with: salt, pepper, italian seasoning, and minced garlic. Add your chicken wings to a slow cooker. Place butter on top of chicken. Cook on High for 2 hours.

  • After about 1.5 hours, begin to make your spicy sauce for the chicken. Add all ingredients to a blender: chopped jalapeno with seeds, cream cheese, butter, buffalo wing sauce, ketchup and brown sugar. Blend until smooth.
  • Add sauce to a small pan, over medium-low heat.

  • Add water. Next, add all spices/seasonings: salt, pepper, garlic, and chili powder.
  • Allow sauce to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until it's reached your preference of spiciness. (The longer, the less spicy.) Feel free to top with jalapeno hot sauce.

  • Once chicken is done cooking, place pieces on a baking sheet, lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper.

  • Using a basting brush, apply your jalapeno sauce to the top and sides of the chicken.

  • Broil the chicken and sauce for 2-4 minutes in the oven. Feel free to top chicken with thyme. Serve and enjoy!!
