Keto Sesame Ginger Ahi Tuna Steaks with ‘Potatoes’

Keto Sesame Ginger Ahi Tuna Steaks with ‘Potatoes’

This Keto Sesame Ginger Ahi Tuna Steaks with ‘Potatoes’ recipe is a true savory dish! The ahi tuna ends up being very moist and tender, with a nice sear and thus a wonderful crust. The ahi tuna includes sesame ginger flavoring, which is both sweet and tangy. The potatoes are creamy, light, and buttery. Overall, this makes a filling, yet light meal, and will be perfect for either lunch or dinner.

Cooking Time & Fish Temperature

I love making recipes such as this Keto Sesame Ginger Ahi Tuna Steaks with ‘Potatoes’ because it’s so quick and easy to make! Depending on your preference, I’ve provided cooking times for rare, medium-rare, and medium for your ahi tuna.

    • RARE: For rare ahi tuna, you simply need to cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for 1.5-2 minutes per side.
      • *Recommended temperature, as the ahi tuna will be the most moist.
    • MEDIUM-RARE: For medium-rare ahi tuna, you can sear each side for about 2.5 minutes.
    • MEDIUM: For medium ahi tuna, you’ll be searing each side closer to 3 minutes.

Overall, you’ll want your ahi tuna to at least reach a temperature of 115 degrees F, 46 degrees C. I’d recommend checking your ahi tuna with a thermometer before serving!

  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar Alternative (Sukrin Gold)
  • 1.5 tsp Pink Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 2 tsp Ginger
  • 1/4 tsp Cayenne

Ahi Tuna Steaks - Preparation:

  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds Garnishment

Mashed 'Potatoes' (Cauliflower)

  • 3 cups Frozen Cauliflower Florets
  • 2 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • 8 tbsp Sour Cream
  • 1 tsp Pink Salt
  • 1 tsp Ground White Pepper
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Parsley Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Xantham Gum

  • Thaw your tuna, if it isn't fresh. Then, prepare your ahi tuna marinade. In a large ziploc bag (quart size), add your ahi tuna steaks. Next, add all marinade ingredients to a small bowl: olive oil, liquid aminos, brown sugar, salt, pepper, ginger, cayenne, and onion powder. Mix together and then pour over the ahi tuna steaks.
  • Shake the bag. Ensure the fish gets evenly coated with the mixture. Place in refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  • Once cooked, set aside. Garnish with sesame seeds.

Mashed 'Potatoes' (Cauliflower)

  • Microwave your frozen cauliflower florets, according to package's instructions. Ensure all water is drained.
  • Add your cauliflower to a medium sized bowl. Next, add your butter. Microwave again for about 30 seconds, to allow your butter to melt.

  • Use a hand (immersion) blender to thoroughly combine all ingredients, until smooth.
  • Serve & Enjoy!
